FAQs
Healing Collective Counseling
How long are appointments?
Typically, counseling sessions last between 45 to 60 minutes. This duration allows for meaningful discussion and progress in each appointment. When should I see a counselor?
We believe there is no wrong time to see a counselor. There is no reason to be “too small” to seek support. Maybe life has been particularly difficult lately, you’ve been struggling with a mental health issue (depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorder, etc.), or you’ve recently been through a major life change or suffered a loss—to name a few!Are my therapy appointments confidential?
Yes. Your information is confidential under HIPAA privacy rule standards and will not be shared without your consent. We are, however, mandated reporters, which legally and ethically requires us to report child or elderly abuse and suicidal/homicidal threats. If a situation requires us to submit a report, this will not be done without your knowledge. What happens if I miss my appointment?
A $100 fee is applied for missed appointments or cancellations within 24 hours of the scheduled time. This fee is automatically charged to your card on file. This policy allows us to offer your slot to another individual in need of counseling if you're unable to attend. How often should I see my counselor?
Counseling is a unique and individual process. Your counselor will collaborate with you to identify a treatment plan, including the suggested frequency of appointments. Most individuals see their counselor once per week or once every 2 weeks. What insurances do you accept?
We're in-network with several insurance providers including Wellmark/BlueCross BlueShield, UHC/UMR, Medicaid (Iowa Total Care, Molina, Wellpoint), some Aetna plans, and Midland's Choice/Health Partners/Cigna. As coverage can vary, we recommend contacting your insurance provider to understand your mental health counseling benefits, or reach out to our office for more information. What types of therapy do you specialize in?
Our team specializes in a variety of approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), CPP (child-parent psychotherapy), trauma-informed care, mindfulness-based therapy, and couples and family counseling. We tailor each treatment plan to meet your unique needs.Do you offer virtual counseling sessions?
Yes, we provide secure and confidential virtual sessions for clients who prefer to meet online. This allows you to access therapy from the comfort of your home while maintaining the same level of care as in-person sessions. How do I know if counseling is right for me?
If you’re experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, or relationship challenges, or simply want support in navigating life changes, counseling can help. Our initial consultation will help determine the best approach for your goals. What can I expect during my first session?
Your first session is an opportunity to share your concerns and goals. We’ll discuss your history, answer any questions, and create a personalized plan to support your mental health journey.
